Frequently asked questions

What ages do you work with?

I work with families from the newborn stage through toddlerhood. Newborn support is specifically designed for babies under 12 weeks.

Do you use the Cry-It-Out (CIO) method?

No. The Whole Nest does not use or recommend cry-it-out (CIO) methods. My approach is responsive, supportive and individualized to each family. I believe babies and young children deserve to feel safe, supported, and connected while they learn healthy sleep habits.

With that being said, tears are a reasonable response to sleep training and changing a routine! It is important to note that it is unrealistic to believe there will be absolutely no tears during this process

Do I have to choose a package with ongoing support?

No. If you feel comfortable implementing a plan independetly, The Foundation may be all you need. If you'd like someone alongside you as you implement your plan, The Journey or Nurture & Bloom may be a better fit.

What if my baby is sick?

If a baby is sick, I typically recommend putting sleep training on hold until baby is feeling well agian. If this happens midway through sleep training, I will reccomend that parents comfort baby back to sleep, and we can resume training once baby is well.

What if my child has a medical or developmental issue affecting sleep?

The information and advice provided during our consultation is not medical advice. The advice is for informational purposes only and is intended to use with healthy children with common sleep issues that are unrelated to medical conditions. The information provided is neither intended nor implied to be used as a substitute for professional medical advice. Always seek the advice of your pediatrician or family practitioner with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition or the health and welfare of your baby.

There may be a few bumps in the road related to developmental milestons, and that is completely normal! So long as baby is not sick or in pain, we will work through these challenges together.

Do you work with co-sleeping /bed sharing families?

For safety reasons, I do not advocate for co-sleeping. I follow the guidelines from the American Association of Pediatrics and the National Institue of Child Health and Human Deveopment. These recommendations include room sharing, but not bed sharing, as a safe to sleep environment.

How long will it take?

One of the most important gifts you can give your baby is the ability to fall asleep on her own at bedtime and during the night. If we chose to work together, I only ask that you follow the plan and be consistent, even when times get hard! I am confident we will get your baby sleeping peacefully and reaching your family's goals.

What if I'm not sure which package is for me?

That's okay! If you're unsure, we can help you determine which level of support makes the most sense for your family's needs.
